Adventure Games on Indiegogo

Indiegogo is an international crowdfunding platform where creators can talk about their projects and ask for funding from interested backers.

Indiegogo has two crowdfunding modes, Fixed Funding and Flexible Funding.

Fixed Funding: when the projected goal is not met, all pledges are cancelled.

Flexible Funding: when the projected goal is met or not, all pledges will be collected. Please keep in mind that if the Flexible Funding falls below the goal, the delivery date may be delayed.

Kickstarter only has the Fixed Funding mode.

I had pledged money to four adventure game fundraising campaigns on Indiegogo:

Kinky Island (ended May 31, 2012)

The Big Sheep (ended July 16, 2012)

Coma: a mind adventure (ended July 16, 2012)

The Samaritan Paradox (ended December 5, 2012)

I will post the digital download purchase links for those four adventure games when they become available.

I will list new adventure game crowdfunding campaign(s) from Indiegogo every Tuesday or earlier.

AR-K Kickstarter Campaign (PC, Mac, Android and iOS)

The Kickstarter campaign for AR-K, an adventure game in four episodes, has concluded successfully with $101,564 ($1,564 over the funding goal) on May 26, 2013. The episodes 2-4 will be produced by Gato Salvaje Studio.

I think the name recognition of the writer of the third/fourth episodes (Greg Rucka) has helped in achieving and surpassing the funding goal.

You can try out the first episode for PC, Mac, Android or iOS.

When the second episode is released, I will post the digital download purchase link.

Telltale Games

I bought the first Telltale Games adventure game series, Sam & Max Save the World for my PC. I loved the quirky humor and madcap antics of the detective duo.

I loved the Wallace & Gromit animated films. I was delighted to see that Telltale Games had released an episodic adventure game series featuring Wallace & Gromit.

I had played the Monkey Island series (The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, The Curse of Monkey Island, and Escape from Monkey Island) on my PC and thought that was the end of Monkey Island in 2000 until when Telltale Games released an original Monkey Island episodic adventure game series in July 2009.

Puzzle Agent and Puzzle Agent 2 are puzzle-centric adventure games which are enjoyable.

I had downloaded the first episodes of the following for free to my iPad:

Back to the Future, an original episodic series

Jurassic Park The Game, an original episodic series

I am a fan of the Vertigo comic series, Fables. That's why I am really looking forward to play the next original, episodic adventure game series, The Wolf Among Us featuring Bigby Wolf.

Kickstart it up! Adventure Games on Kickstarter (updated July 28, 2013)

A news segment in December 2012 was on the crowdfunding platforms on the internet. Kickstarter.com was the name of one such platform. I became interested and googled it. Kickstarter is where you can pledge a specific amount in support of an individual/group/company creating a product or service and get something or more in return. I found out that adventure games were under Video Games on Kickstarter. I pledged $15 to Double Fine Productions so they could make an adventure game (Broken Age). Their goal was $400,000. It was surpassed and rose to $3,336,371 because the game was spearheaded by Tim Schafer (Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango). That made 87,142 backers pledge their money. The fundraising campaign ended on March 12, 2012.

I also pledged money to more adventure games on Kickstarter. Alas, the Kickstarter campaigns for those games and Broken Age had ended. But don't despair! You can still pledge money through Paypal for the following games. You can click on the name(s) and be transported to the Paypal link(s):

Broken Age (Double Fine Productions)

Jane Jensen's Moebius and more (Pinkerton Road CSG)

Tesla Effect - Tex Murphy

The pre-orders for Tesla Effect will end on July 31, 2013.

Quest For Infamy - Infamous Quests

Reincarnation: The Root of All Evil

Jack Houston and the Necronauts

Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption - by the Quest for Glory designers

Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey

Asylum

Mage's Initiation

Please keep in mind that when the Paypal link stops working or the digital download becomes available, I will delete the link or replace that with the digital download purchase link.

There are several games that don't make the list. When the games become available for digital download, I will steer you to the links where you can buy a game or more.

Every Thursday evening or earlier from now on, I will look through the adventure game selections on Kickstarter and post the links (Kickstarter, Paypal) here.

You can do the same.

I have a guilty pleasure

I have to confess that I do play the Nancy Drew mystery/adventure games by Her Interactive. As of yesterday, I finished Nancy Drew: Ghost of Thornton Hall, the 28th game in the series.

From the 28 games, I have learned tidbits of history, played national games (senet, scopa, etc.), solved puzzles of every kind, been exposed to different cultures (Japanese, Italian, etc.), died a hundred times, and reached the end just to view the teaser for the next game in the series.

When the new game becomes available on the release day, you will find me at the nearest Best Buy store, scanning the game shelves for the latest ND game. Now you can buy the game in stores, online or by digital download.
